The 2007 Owego Varsity Girls Tennis team is poised for a run at the STAC
Central Division title, as it is a perfect combination of veteran leadership
and talented
youth. The team is led by its four co-captains: Lindsay Knaul, Katharine Mead,
Elise Thornley, & Katie Malia, All four have been long standing members of
the Varsity team over the past 4 years, and have been contributing to the starting
line-up for the past 3 years. Lindsay & Katharine made the All-Division team
in 2006, and look to dominate at 1st doubles for a 2nd consecutive season. Following
the lead of the seniors is Julia Hutchinson. Julia was an All-Conference Singles
selection in 2006 and an All-Division member in 2005. Julia compiled 13 wins
last year including a top 3 finish at the Section 4, Class B tournament. The
line-up also returns Laura Dragon and Abby Wunder from last season, and welcomes
the addition of sophomore Carmina Georgescu, and freshmen Elizabeth Skovira & Danielle
Dupuis. We look for great things from these individuals, and from this team.
